[Mesa-users] mesa-24.08.01 installation failed on MacOS Sequoia 15.2

Hello everyone,

I am trying to install the latest (24.08.1) version of MESA on my MacBook
Pro with Apple M3 chip (OS Sequoia 15.2). I installed the corresponding
MESASDK (24.10.1). After setting MESA_DIR, OMP_NUM_THREADS, and
MESASDK_ROOT. I do a "./install” in MESA_DIR. Interestingly, the
installation terminated by displaying following issue:-

LIB_TOOL libutils.a

/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin/ranlib: archive member:
libutils.a(utils_c_system.o) cputype (16777223) does not match previous
archive members cputype (16777228) (all members must match)

warning: /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin/ranlib: archive
library: libutils.a will be fat and ar(1) will not be able to operate on it

/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin/ar: internal ranlib command
failed

make: *** [libutils.a] Error 1


/Users/amar/mesa-24.08.1/utils/make

FAILED

then I tried to do a “./clean” which displayed:-

make: *** ../gyre: No such file or directory.  Stop.

make: *** [clean] Error 2

cleaning forum

make: *** ../forum: No such file or directory.  Stop.

make: *** [clean] Error 2

FAILED

removing some data to force reinstall

finished clean



after doing a “./clean”, I tried “./install” again, which showed:-

LIB_TOOL libutils.a

ar: libutils.a is a fat file (use libtool(1) or lipo(1) and ar(1) on it)

ar: libutils.a: Inappropriate file type or format

make: *** [libutils.a] Error 1


/Users/amar/mesa-24.08.1/utils/make

FAILED



/Users/amar/mesa-24.08.1/utils

./build_and_test FAILED


Please provide your valuable suggestions to the cause and possible
troubleshooting of the issue.
