[Mesa-users] Help needed for incorporating inlist_shock_part6 form old mesa version into ccsn_IIp test suite of new version.

Hi Nageeb,

I haven't tried this with the latest MESA revision or 22.05.1; I'll look
into it. Last revision I know for sure worked beyond shock breakout and for
10 days of evolution was r-15140, which worked best when a lot of other
things were turned off. Attached are my modified inlist_shock_part6 and
run_star_extras.f90 (which I don't remember if I had to modify or not) from
then.

This does seem like an outer boundary condition issue, and one problem I
foresee is the option use_T_Paczynski_outer_BC has been removed from MESA
since then, and I haven't yet dug up what, if anything, replaced it.

How far do you want the shock to go? In inlist_shock_part5, you can set
x_ctrl(16) = -1 (or try a tiny number like 1d-15) and set log_L_upper_limit
= 9 and that will end the run as the luminosity rises as the shock is
exiting the model.

Also, is there a reason to use 22.05.1 specifically? That revision has a
number of known bugs which greatly affect stellar evolution and especially
CCSN progenitor structure (including a bug in the reverse 3alpha rate which
caused He depletion to end after core C depletion). If not I recommend
migrating to a more recent MESA revision, or reverting to 15140.
