Hi Ebraheem,
First of all thank you for reply and sorry for late return.
On your idea, since I used "relax_initial_omega_div_omega_crit = .true." setting for making each star models, shouldn't they have already rotation when I starting the binary evolution similar to binary evolution without models?
Anyhow, unfortunately your suggestion wasn't successful. I did change
near_zams_relax_omega_div_omega_crit = .true.
relax_initial_omega_div_omega_crit = .false.
setting in both inlist1 and inlist2, but result is worse as you can see from the attached graph. I considered your thought as it might be the result of the bigger radius in stars. But in this experiment there is, literally, no change whether I relaxed the rotation on near ZAMS or from the start.
I also included "rotation period" in history columns and attached a graph that shows how rotation period for each star changes respect to time for each system. There is no difference in the rotation period for each star in every setting. I would expect, as you said, since faster rotator star has a bigger radius than others, it should have a different rotation period. But nope, it's same for every one of stars.
I'm really puzzled on this. I would attached the inlists and history files but I don't think it matters at all since the only setting I have changed is relaxing rotation.
Have you have another idea what might cause this?
Gökhan

Hello Gökhan,
I suspect that the difference is related to your inlist start_job: "relax_initial_omega_div_omega_crit = .true.".
If you evolve two separate, non-interacting, stellar models one from the pre-ms and the other from the ZAMS (both with 0 initial rotation), I would naively expect the pre-ms model to spin up while contracting on the pre-ms and ending up reaching the ms with a larger rotational velocity and hence larger R than the ZAMS initialized model with 0 initial rotation.I don't see a rotation period in your history files, but this would be something interesting to maybe double check!
For a similar initial condition, you could try "near_zams_relax_omega_div_omega_crit = .true."?

Hey everyone,
I have been trying to migrate to the latest MESA version, which is r23.05.1
I use MESA mostly for binary interactions with main-sequence stars, especially low-mid mass stars. Lately, I encountered with a problem that evolution of stars in the binary systems evolve faster than usual if I do not provide a starting model, which is on ZAMS. Isn't this a funny behavior? Whether I should provide a model or not I should expect that evolution goes same. I attached the files and a graph that shows the radius change in terms of age. And the difference, I believe, can be seen clearly. Could anyone can provide me a feedback on this?
Also, I could not managed to activate angular momentum change because of magnetic braking even though I set,
do_jdot_mb = .true.
I haven't seen any behavior like this in previous MESA version I use, in which is r12778.
It would be greatly helpful to any feedback or corrections in my files.
Thanks in advance,
Gökhan
