[Mesa-users] New MESA release candidate r23.05.1-rc1

Hi All,

We are pleased to announce a beta public release of MESA, r23.05.1-rc1, which can be downloaded from Zenodo: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7876794 <https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7876794>

As a reminder, we are now making a pre-release version of MESA available for testing before a full release. We expect the full release around the end of May. The release candidate should not be used for science but we expect it will be close to the final released version. We encourage users to test the release candidate and send feedback to the developers if they feel that updates to MESA may impact their science.

The inlist controls for reading in extra inlists have been changed to arrays. The changes to the names for these controls mean that inlists from most work directories for previous MESA versions will not be compatible with this release out of the box, but will be straightforward to update. For convenience, we have provided a script to update all inlists in a local directory simply by invoking this command in your terminal: $MESA_DIR/scripts/update_inlists
A new option has been introduced to include carbon-oxygen phase separation in crystallizing white dwarf models.
The resolution control convective_bdy_weight for adding zones at convective boundaries has been reintroduced.
