Takahashi et al 2018 uses a different code to MESA, so it's not surprising
there are differences.

Sounds like an interesting science experiment for you to do to see what
physics you need to change in a MESA model to reproduce the results of
Takahashi et al 2018

Look at the terminal output when the model ends. That will tell you when
and why the model stopped.
