[Mesa-users] 2023 Kavli Summer Program in Astrophysics, MPA

Dear MESA users,

This is to advertise the 2023 Kavli Summer Program in Astrophysics, hosted
by the Max Plank Institute for Astrophysics, on the topic of "The lives,
deaths and afterlives of interacting stars", which will take place from
June 26th to August 4th, 2023 in Garching, near Munich, Germany.

This is a high-profile six-week program during which Ph.D. students work on
collaborative projects with leading faculty in the field. The first week
consists of pedagogical lectures and state-of-the-art seminars. The next 5
weeks are dedicated to collaborative and multidisciplinary research.
Graduate students work on research projects together with senior and
postdoc participants of the program.

This program is an outstanding opportunity for students to study a field in
depth, and to work on an intense project with experts in the field beyond
their advisor. For many former participants, this program helped them
greatly in their next career steps. For senior participants, this program
offers a stimulating place and community for collaborative projects and a
chance to work with very talented and motivated students. Many research
projects lead to a publication.

until March 31st.

Aside from offering a very vibrant scientific environment on the Garching
research campus, Munich is also a wonderful place to spend the summer. You
will be only a short metro ride away from the historical center of Munich,
which you can explore in your free time, and many music and art festivals
take place in the summer. Short trips on the weekend by train, to hike in
the Bavarian Alps and see spectacular mountain lakes, may provide a great
way to recharge and make friendships for life.
