Hello,
I see, I will take a closer look at these options. Thank you very much for your help!
Best,
Natsuko Yamaguchi

Hi,
seems your inlists do not have rotation turned on, so no rotation effects will take place. An example of a binary model with tides is in the test case located at $MESA_DIR/binary/test_suite/double_bh. Things you can include from there are (you can look for explanations for these options in the defaults files for the star and binary modules):
- for inlist project, section &binary_controls:
do_tidal_sync = .true.
do_j_accretion = .true.
sync_mode_1 = "Uniform"
sync_type_1 = "Hut_rad"
Ftid_1 = 1
sync_mode_2 = "Uniform"
sync_type_2 = "Hut_rad"
Ftid_2 = 1
do_initial_orbit_sync_1 = .true.
do_initial_orbit_sync_2 = .true.
- and the more relevant one, turn on rotation in &star_job for both inlist1 and inlist2:
new_rotation_flag = .true.
change_rotation_flag = .true.
set_initial_surface_rotation_v = .true.
! this is just a random number, tidal sync takes care of it
new_surface_rotation_v = 50
Cheers

Hello,
Thank you for getting back to me.
I have attached a folder with all the inlist files to this email. The MESA version I am using is r22.05.1.
Best,
Natsuko Yamaguchi

Dear Yamaguchi,
Can you please share your full inlists (as attachments) as well as mention your MESA version?

Hello,
I am a graduate student trying to test the effect of rotational mixing on some binary models and am having some difficulty.
I have only recently started using MESA and any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.
Problem: Including rotational mixing makes no difference to the output so I believe it may not be turning on at all.
A few options I have set in inlist_project:
* evolve_both_stars = .false.
* m1 = 1.5d0
* m2 = 0.7d0
* initial_period_in_days = 0.75d0 (I have also tried this with m1 = 1.0, initial_period = 3.1)
A few options in inlist_1, including those of rotational mixing:
* set_uniform_initial_composition = .true. + initial_h1, initial_h2 etc. (I include this here because when I tried including mixing without this once, it did turn on - though there were still issues such as the value of the am_D_mix_factor not having any effect)
* am_D_mix_factor = 1/30d0
* D_ES_factor = 1 (I have also tried this with am_D_mix_factor = 1, D_ST_factor = 1 instead of D_ES_factor, etc.)
Am I missing anything in the settings for rotational mixing? If additional information is helpful, please let me know.
Thank you very much in advance,
Best,
Yamaguchi
