Hi Amedeo,
Perhaps explore the '1Msun_pre_ms_to_wd' test_suite to find what you need
to get the model to cross the hr gap?
Presumably this test case utilizes as loose resolution as can be had during
each phase, while reliably achieving the WD final fate.

Check out what's controlling your timestep in your terminal.
If you are just testing, don't want to wait for the whole runtime, fine
with relaxing your timestep controls (e.g. varcontrol target), and your
model doesn't stall, then by all means try to lower your resolution
further.
Until we are blessed with exaflop laptops, the only other solution I can
suggest is patience. :)
