[Mesa-users] Output energy released by nuclear reactions

Dear Earl,

I tested the run_star_extras uploaded by Frank, and compared it with the results output by the profile_columns.list file.

e.g. the energy (erg/g/s) released by 3α (See Attachment),

in which profile_columns.list outputs "tri_alfa" and run_star_extras outputs "r_he4_he4_he4_to_c12".

Strange that the two results are not the same, is this because of units or something else?

Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards!
Yunlang

Dear Yunlang,

This is not yet a default feature in MESA. However, you can extract the information by incorporating some calls into your run_star_extras routines.

Frank Timmes uploaded an example here: https://zenodo.org/record/3372837#.YjRW6HrMKbg

Please note this example uses MESA r11701, so the calls may be different for your version.

Best wishes,
Earl

Dear MESA-users,
How to get the energy (erg/g/s) released by the nuclear reaction in MESA-r10398?
e.g. weak reactions like r_ne20_wk_f20.
In the profile_columns.list file, I see the following content:
   ! ergs/g/sec for reaction categories
!add_reaction_categories ! this adds all the reaction categories
! NOTE: you can list specific categories by giving their names (from net_def)
! This will generate columns labeled burn_ELEMENT
      ! i.e. burn_ar, burn_c, burn_fe etc and also c12_c12, c12_o16 etc
   !pp
   !cno
   tri_alfa
   c12_o16
However, MESA doesn't seem to be able to read things like ne20_wk_f20.
Looking forward to your reply !
Best Regards!
