[Mesa-users] Caution about upgrading to macOS 12 (Monterey)

Hi folks —

For those of you considering upgrading to macOS 12 (Monterey), please consider holding off until a serious issue in gfortran is fixed.

The issue is that when running an executable compiled using gfortran, redirection of standard output to a file doesn’t work — the file is invariably empty.

Until the issue is resolved, it won’t be possible to build MESA on Monterey. I’ll monitor the situation as it develops, and let mesa-users know when any thing changes (and see also https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=102992).
