[Mesa-users] PPISN module timestep issues

Hi everyone,

We have been trying to run the PPISN module to get the final BH masses, and
He depletion mass for initial masses 40-90M in steps of 2M. We have not
made any changes to the default run_star_extras.f file in the test suite,
but have made a few changes to the inlist_ppisn file.
We changed most of the settings to recommended values (except
mesh_delta_coeff which we set as 0.5). 40-64M ran until Fe core collapse.
But, 66-90M were very slow to converge and hadn’t even reached He burning
(as was apparent from the star age and negligible drop in star mass) even
after >100,000 models.

We then tried implementing some fixes as suggested by some previous mail
threads. Specifically, we changed the convective overshoot controls and
max_dq. We also added and removed pre_ms_T_c but to no avail.

We are attaching the inlist_ppisn file and the run_star_extras.f files.

MESA version: r12778
SDK version: March 25, 2020
OS: Cluster, 64-bit Linux
