[Mesa-users] Having excessive surface pulsations in late stellar evolution of massive stars.

Hi everyone,

My name is Sohan and I'm relatively new to MESA. I have been trying to
create models of massive stars in MESA (mass ranging from 10-300 M_sun) for
about a month now.

I understand that different masses could require different input settings
but my current setting mostly works (at least for the stellar interiors)

My questions are the following:

1) My models (for mass >= 40Msun and zero initial rotation) begin to show
large pulsations on the HR diagram once the carbon in the core is near
exhaustion (pic attached). I have tried raising the Pextra_factor (in
inlist_massive_defaults) which does help in lowering the pulsations but
doesn't settle the issue. Can someone guess what might be causing these
pulsations? I have tried varying the overshoot_f and overshoot_f0  and
Mixing length variables but that didn't seem to help either.

 2) Is it possible to somehow lower the surface Luminosity (on the HR
diagram) while keeping the Teff unchanged for these models (M >= 70Msun). I
guess that this could be done by modifying the pre-ZAMS evolution but not
sure.
