[Mesa-users] problems in MESA

Dear Sir or Madam:




I am writing to you for some questions of MESA. Recently, I want to model the PPISN of massive star from 

ZAMS with the example in test_suite directory of MESA. I use MESA-r11532 and MESASDK 20180822 in

Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS. However, the inlist files seems to prepared for He stars. Therefore, I uncommented 

the "initial_Y = 0.999d0" and revised the limits of turning on the Riemann hydro, e.g., x_ctrl(2) = 9.4d0 and 

x_ctrl(11) = 14d0. Other parameters adopted the recommended value. 




However, the model runs not well. For example, the timesteps during He burning is usually very small (less than 

several seconds). In some models (e.g., the Mzams = 140), the center temperature will repeat varying between 

10^9.26 and 10^9.27 K during the Ne burning stage and may not evolve to next stage. The inlist files are attached.




Therefore, in order to evolve the model successfully from ZAMS instead of He star, which parameters should be 

revised in the inlist files? I am looking forward to your replay.
