[Mesa-users] Planet Radius and EOS question

Hi all,

I'm running a grid of highly irradiated rocky planets, that seem to
encounter problems evolving after a couple billion years, and go through a
sudden change in radii. The planets dramatically change in radius at the
same time that the logQ maximum value goes above 5. I'm having trouble
understanding if the planet radius is decreasing because of the logQ
issues, or if the radius decrease is the source of the logQ issues.

I've attached a plot of the planet radius and logQ value for a test case
below. To run the model, I load in the irrad mod file, and then run ./rn
after cleaning and compiling ./star_make_planets. I'd be happy to send more
of the suite if it would be helpful. I tried to cutout everything that
wasn't necessary to recreate the bug. The planets evolve for the full 10
billion years, albeit with a small timestep and a large logQ value.

I've written new routines in SRC that allow the planet composition to
change with time, but everything seems to be behaving as it should, except
in these extreme cases. I've found small planets with EOS issues before,
but never any that cause these radius jumps. These issues only seem to
happen for some of the most extremely irradiated planets, with large
incident fluxes
