I note that r12778 has an "other_gradr_factor" hook which would make
changing gradr even easier.

Of course, you may prefer not to upgrade if you're already in the middle of
a project or for other reasons.  In r11701, you might find it instructive
to look at the run_star_extras in star/test_suite/hydro_Ttau_evolve and see
how it uses the other other_porosity_factor and other_atm hooks.
