Your message is too vague for me to be able to say much.  (It will be more
effective if you provide a way for us to easily reproduce the issue.)

Assuming abrupt means in the first step or two after you load your model,
then the simplest guess is that some input physics is suddenly changing
between the single star model you produced and your binary calculation (due
to different inlist options, different MESA versions, etc.).
