You might also want to look at the rsp_check_2nd_crossing test case in star/test_suite.
Here’s the comment you’ll find at the start of inlist_ rsp_check_2nd_crossing
! given a history log constructed by a mesa/star run
! such as in the 5M_cepheid_blue_loop test case
! (e.g., history_logs/history_7M.data),
! uses the rsp model building and linear analysis
! to find the instability strip edges,
! then interpolates along the evolutionary track
! to find points at selected Teff offsets from the blue edge.
! the results are written to a file such as 7B_2nd_crossing.data
Dig into the details in run_star_extras to see exactly how it works.
As it stands it is only looking for the blue edge, but the approach might be extended for red edge as well.
