[Mesa-users] Restart from a custom photo filename

Hi Anthony,

I think this isn't quite right if you're using the "rn" and "re" scripts to run (recommended), rather than executing "star" directly. Those scripts handle some of this logic for you, and only use "restart_photo" as an intermediate step.

In 12778, the default behavior is for MESA to restart from photo files found in the 'photos' directory, either from the most recent photo file if you run "./re" without any argument, or from another photo if you specify its name (e.g. "./re x100"). The ./re script copies the specified photo to the file "restart_photo" and runs from there.

So if I understand you correctly, I think you can solve your problem by setting "photo_directory" to unique names in different inlists for different runs if you want to track states for different runs in the same directory.
