Hi,
There is a discussion of this in section 6 of

The short answer depends on the problem, but you're probably maxing the
benefit at ~12 threads for most problems. I would usually say if you're
running one mesa problem at a time get a faster cpu, if you're running
multiple mesas at once then get more cores.
