I don't see how it can function as global stop option for all masses.

Have you considered incorporating the central hydrogen mass fraction in
your definition? For example, stopping when Xc = 0.69 (i.e. the start
value minus "a bit")?

P.S. Aaron Dotter's ZAMS definition in MIST is:
The ZAMS EEP is taken as the first point after the
H-burning luminosity exceeds 99.9% of the total
luminosity and before the central H mass fraction has
fallen below its initial value by 0.0015.
