the purpose of this test case is to show the ignition of carbon and oxygen
as an accreting white dwarf nears the chandrasekhar mass limit.

the choice of stopping at 1e8 Lsun is a) sufficient to show vigorous burning
of carbon has begun, with peak temps ~ 2e9 k, and b) completes in a time that is
reasonable for nightly runs of the entire test suite. there is no magic in 1e8 Lsun,
one could have equally well chosen other stopping conditions for the purpose of a test suite case.

clearer?
