Hello MESA-users,
I'm using MESA to simulate classical nova, but I’m obtaining some peculiar results. With my current inlist, the peak velocities achieved by the outer layers of the white dwarf’s envelope are around 150 km/s. This is well below the 1000-2000 km/s outer layer velocities that should theoretically be generated by a novae burst (based on the results obtained by other stellar evolution codes).
I’m using a 50/50 C12-O16, one solar mass white dwarf model relaxed down to a luminosity of 10^-2 Lsun, accreting a 25% WD, 75% solar composition at a rate of 2x10^-10 Msun/year. Ive attached my inlist and white dwarf model, and my nuclear reaction network covers all possible reactions that can be involved.
No adjustment to the atmosphere boundary conditions, mixing parameters, or super-Eddington winds that I make seem to increase the outer velocities, and I’m stuck for what to do. I would be grateful if anyone could help me out, thank you in advance!
Best,
Arman Aryaeipour
