You probably want to test against a finite value, since something like
10^{-100} erg/g/s is "no hydrogen burning" for all intents and purposes.

For example, MESA sometimes uses 1 erg/g/s for this value.  That's
arbitrary, but since things are usually exponentially sensitive to
temperature, the exact value is unimportant.
