[Mesa-users] MESA Question - Super-Eddington Winds

By chance, does the full error look like this:
failed to open LOGS_1.00Msun_5.0e-7/history.data
star_finish_step ierr 2
If so, that first line is telling you the problem.
Because I was making so many different runs, I saved them all in differently-named LOGS directories. Back in the dark ages, if you named a specific LOGS directory (in this case, "LOGS_1.00Msun_5.0e-7"), that directory had to exist before MESA could write to it. This is not the case in more recent MESA revisions, but for this revision, you'll need to either create the directory in question before starting the run, or delete the line that sets the name of the LOGS directory so that it can use the default directory ("LOGS") that hopefully already exists.

Hi James,
That's a great project, and I'm glad you're trying to reproduce results before expanding upon them.
Since these are my models and inlists, I'll take a look at this and see if I can reproduce this problem. Can you provide me/us the exact versions of the inlist files that work and don't work?
Regards,
Bill

Dear All,
I'm using mesa-r5118 on Ubuntu (16.04 LTS) with mesasdk (version 20141023) and have encountered a problem when enabling Super Eddington winds from the following script. I'm currently using MESA for a final year project at University and am using the inlist_flash inlist of the "Hydrogen Burning on Accreting White Dwarfs: Stability, Recurrent Novae, and the Post-Nova Supersoft Phase" paper from http://cococubed.asu.edu/mesa_market/inlists.html (3rd from bottom) and I'm planning to expand upon it by varying the metallicity of a 1.00Msun WD and evolving it over time to see how it affect its evolution.
I'm currently trying to check if I get the same results from the paper by evolving the initial stars from the steady_burning_models directory with their mass_change equal to the steady burning rate of the paper above (from Table 1 in the paper). This all works fine for Roche-Lobe, however, when I comment out the Roche-Lobe commands and enable the Super Eddington Wind commands it runs for 10 steps then stops with the following error.
star_finish_step ierr 2
How can I enable Super-Eddington Winds for this script and not have it crash?
Many Thanks for the help,
James
