[Mesa-users] Creating Initial Model through run_star_extras

Dear H

Thank you for your reply! However, for the project I’m working on I need MESA to be able to read a separate text file that specifies its initial mass and z-value and uses those values for the create_pre_main_sequence_model. I tried to do this in the regular inlist already but it didn’t work, I was hoping I could do it using run_star_extras.

Sincerely,
Christian

   Hi Christian,

Could you be more specific about your initial model? Do you mean a pre-main sequence star? You can always use this:

  http://mesa.sourceforge.net/star_job_defaults.html#create_pre_main_sequence_model

  http://mesa.sourceforge.net/controls_defaults.html#specifications_for_starting_model

If you really want to specify your star's composition, you can relax it using the mass abundances for each Lagrangian shell in your model:

  http://mesa.sourceforge.net/star_job_defaults.html#relax_initial_composition

  Hope this helps.
