I'm not sure that this is the logical conclusion.  Let's wait for someone
with experience using Stella weigh in on this question.

I'll add, though, that the fact that split_merge_amr used in
example_ccsn_IIp doesn't accept rotating models does not necessarily mean
that you can't run example_ccsn_IIp with a rotating model.  You might try
simply setting use_split_merge_amr = .false. and seeing what happens.
