Hi Rob, Josiah and Amber

Thanks for the help, the content of run_star_extras.f was " include 'work_standard_makefile'" in both src folders , i.e. tutorial and work.
According to the comment of Amber, I changed it to : "  include 'standard_run_star_extras.inc'" and both ./mk are now compiling without any errors.

Pleas provide the run_star_extras.f file used in the "tutorial" folder, i'm not sure why run_star_extras is trying to use the work_standard_makefile.
