Hi All,
I wanted to let everyone know about a new option for getting MESA installed and running on your local machine. It’s a Docker container with MESA already installed, and it should work with any OS that supports Docker, including Windows 10. I’ve put together some scripts and instructions here: https://github.com/evbauer/MESA-Docker <https://github.com/evbauer/MESA-Docker>.
This should serve as a useful tool for those who are ready to invest some extra effort to step beyond the limited options of MESA-Web, but not yet comfortable configuring their environment for full installation. I suspect most of you on this list are beyond that level of MESA mastery, but I hope you’ll keep this in mind as an option as you introduce new users to MESA or consider using MESA for stellar evolution classes.
Thanks to Rob Farmer, Jared Goldberg, and Bill Wolf for helping me test this.
Cheers,
Evan
