Hi Jeremy,
It's up to you to decide what criteria need to be met to satisfy "in the
instability strip" or "crossing the instability strip". If you can convert
that into a Fortran IF statement, then you' re in business. There is a
great intro to using run_star_extras here:

See especially the section on "Choosing when to output history or profiles"
to see how to save profiles at specific times.
