[mesa-users] timestep in VMS with wind

Hi all,

I’m working on VMS (rotation and wind effect).  When I turn on the wind, I’m getting problem with the timestep.  My logdt is about 1.2 so my model will probably take a week to evolve to the end of H burning.  Actually, I’m asking me if this is normal or i’m missing something?

I’ve included the enlist and value from a few model during a simulation.  You can see the timestep and the age or the star after 35 000 model (about 3 hours).

I’ve already identify the timestep control limit. It’s varcontrol_target.

This is the target value for relative variation in the structure from one model to the next. The default timestep adjustment is to increase or reduce the timestep depending on whether the actual variation was smaller or greater than this value.

varcontrol_target = 1d-4
So the timestep is limited by the relative change in the structure.  My question is can I change this value without losing to much physic in the model?  I’m pretty new in stellar evolution and in simulation in general so i’m pretty clueless at this point.
