[mesa-users] Using kap module in another program

Hi Roni,
Very recently, I wrote a wrapper around the kap module to call the Monochromatic OP opacities, and modify the Iron and Nickel opacities, before computing the Rosseland mean. Then, I tabulated the new opacities in Type I format (the OPAL format), so that they can be very easily plugged into MESA (and perhaps other codes). The code now lives on bitbucket at the following address:
https://bitbucket.org/ehsan_moravveji/op_mono/overview <https://bitbucket.org/ehsan_moravveji/op_mono/overview>
Please take a look at the Wiki page too.
There are three OP opacity tables (for AGSS09 mixture) ready for download there. If that does not serve you enough, you can fetch the code, and do it on your own, in the way you desire (i.e. by choosing different choices of mixture from mesa/chem/chem_def, and different opacity factors for Fe and Ni). One, among many possible applications of the new opacities is also explained in the following letter paper:
http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2015arXiv150908652M <http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2015arXiv150908652M>
For that, I tried to follow on the worked examples in sample_kap. So, you can easily take a look at the Makefile too (though it can be still improve).
If you have any suggestions on how to extend the package for even wider applications, please share your thoughts, and then we can make attempts.
I hope this helps for now.
Best
Ehsan.
