[mesa-users] MESA code Questions!!

Hi

1) I suggest looking at
http://mesa.sourceforge.net/pgstar_defaults.html#Abundance_window where you
can see that you can set the isotope you want plotted as

Abundance_which_isos_to_show(1) = 'h1'

But that requires the isotope to be in your current nuclear network you are
using, as MESA only evolves the isotopes you tell it too. Thus if there is
no iron or silicon in your network then you wont be able to plot it.
Without seeing your inlist i can't say what net your using but you can look
in $MESA_DIR/data/net_data/net at the available ones.  Then you could pick
one with iron and silicon in which should then allow you to plot those
abundances.
Though you'll have to work out which net is suitable for you problem, the
bigger the net the slower mesa will run.

2) You can plot sound speed as a function of mass/radius etc look at it
http://mesa.sourceforge.net/pgstar_defaults.html#Profile_Panels
then by also plotting the isotope at the same time (using the _other_y plot
settings) you can see the sound speed as a function of abundance.

3) Maybe there are, at this point your into doing science so you'll need to
experiment to see if you think those parameters are suitable for the Sun.
Don't just blindly trust the defaults.
