Nice explanation Josiah! I prefer the terminology of "hard-wired nets" for
"hard" and "explicit nets" for "soft", which include only explicit reaction
links, not virtual ones. Hard nets are fast, but have implicit assumptions
which may not be satisfied, so you have to be sure that your problem lies
in that domain. If feasible I prefer using the explicit nets because one
learns new things from them; you don't impose your answer on nature. It
depends upon what you want from your calculation, of course.
