[mesa-users] Radiative Turbulent Diffusion

Hi Umberto,

Thanks for the information.

Your email gives me a chance to re-give one of my favorite sermons! ;D

MESA provides tools for users to do experiments.
We don't pick winners and losers from the many alternative theories.
So our inclusion of the Morel & Thévenin (2002) method is not an endorsement.
It is to allow users to experiment with that proposed mechanism (perhaps to show that it has problems!).
If there are other options that users would like to include in their experiments, then let's add them to MESA too.

Cheers,
Bill

Their description is based on a confusion between atomic diffusion and turbulent transport".

I also cannot convince myself why D_rad cannot be “added” to other mixing coefficients, say semi-convective, thermohaline, etc.? Indeed, we do not know well how different mixing mechanisms interplay/interact. Some words from black belts would be very appreciated here.
