Since the data has sound speed and radius at each point, you want to do the same with mesa.

This means that instead of using the cell-centered sound speed (csound), you need to use the value interpolated to the cell boundary where radius is defined (csound_at_face).

i can't comment on the issue of sound speeds in the outer few percent by radius.   The data in bp98soundspeeds.dat stops at R/Rsun = 0.947321.  



I do have data from Aldo Serenelli that goes out farther.  MESA agrees pretty well out to 99% (not quite as good as Aldo's results however), but both have problems in the outermost 1% by radius compared to the "data".
