[mesa-users] Mesa Not Installing On Yosemite

My .bash_profile still remains locked no matter what I do. It says I can only edit a copy of the file but the file itself.

I already tried the open ~./bash_profile thats how I found out I didn't have permission. Also would this give me permission to edit the Mesa file too? Because at the moment I can't even change the name of the file and couldn't even delete it when I was trying to redownloaded the code.

Try giving yourself all the requisite permissions to edit it first:

chmod u+rwx ~/.bash_profile

Noah,

to put those in ~/.bash_profile you need to open it first with a text-editor, like emacs or vim ...

or since you're on a mac, do:

open ~/.bash_profile

and it will open it using the default text-editor.

those have to be in your shell startup file.
Just put these 4 lines in your ~/.bash_profile :

export MESASDK_ROOT=/Applications/mesasdk

source $MESASDK_ROOT/bin/mesasdk_init.sh

export OMP_NUM_THREADS=2

export MESA_DIR=~/mesa

and do:

source ~/.bash_profile

Have you followed the instructions about initializing the SDK?

This error indicates that gfortran is not being found in your PATH,
which should not happen if you have correctly set things up.
