[mesa-users] Which Linux distribution to run MESA?

Dear MESA users


I will be supervising an undergraduate thesis this year; the project title is "Using MESA to learn about stellar evolution".
The student still has to define exactly what problem she wants to look at more specifically.

She has never used Unix and never had an astronomy class…

In order to avoid having unnecessary problems and hassles, my question is the following:

Since she still has to install a distribution of Linux on her laptop, do you have any recommendation on which one she
should install, or which one she should NOT install? 

I am myself running MESA on a Mac, so I have no experience with running MESA on Linux.
