in addition to neglecting ionization, your P_gas neglects the effects
of degeneracy (~ chemical potential / kT) and relativity (~ kT/m_e c^2)
on the free electrons along with ignoring interactions between the
components of the plasma (i.e., coulomb corrections).
examine the 1 and 10 msun main-sequence thermodynamic tracks in the rho-T plane.
armed with the information above, consider re-assessing the explanation of
ionization causing all the delta behavior.
