As long as you understand what the test suite is doing and what the parameters in your inlist mean, you should be fine starting with that. Of course depending on the specific task you want to accomplish you will have to modify your inlists.

In principle there is no coding required to run MESA. You might want to add code to run_star_extras.f if you have special needs (see details on Mesa.sourceforge.net), but this doesn't seem to be your case yet. 

Of course you need to modify your inlists to include / control the physics relevant for your problem. But that's not coding, it's just changing a set of parameters.

Which output? If you mean the Mass / mass fraction of CO in the core, I already replied to your question. If you remember I told you that c12_o16 is not the variable you are looking for (and you should know what that variable is by now). I also told you where to look for the answer. I honestly have the impression you are not willing to make any effort to learn by yourself the basics. The mailing list is not for asking people to do the work for you, so please before asking anymore questions be sure to have read the basics and have spent enough time looking for the answers yourself.
