Hi Mathieu,
I know you are aware that you are way out in front on trying big nets like mesa_201 --- Frank, Rob, and I still have a lot of work to do before they are really going to be ready for general use. But understanding that, it will be great to have your help in getting this going. Hopefully by next Spring we'll really be up and running well with monsters like mesa_201.
For your current case, if it always crashes, I'd suggest doing something different! In this case, I'd do 2 things. First I'd try a somewhat smaller net just to make life a bit easier until we have a sparse matrix solver in mesa/star to help with the really big nets. At this point you aren't doing publication runs anyway -- so no need to suffer more than necessary. How about trying mesa_78 or mesa_125 while we try to get things to work. Second, I think you need to start with something that works -- I always have better luck doing that instead of starting with something that is broken and trying to fix it (humpty dumpty and all that). So go back to earlier burning stages and find a place where you can switch from approx21 to a larger net without crashing -- perhaps after carbon burning. Then let that run to core collapse. See if you can run the smaller mesa_78 net up to the end of oxygen burning and then switch to one of the really large ones --- perhaps that will work where switching straight from approx21 fails. You're going to have to try a bunch of things, and most of them will fail. Welcome to the club. ;D
Cheers,
Bill
