[mesa-users] Convective core disappears when use_Ledoux=.true.

Hi folks —

I’m playing around with evolving a 5 Msun model across the ZAMS. To my surprise, I find that core convection disappears (leading to a positive Brunt N2) when I set the use_Ledoux flag to .true. Can someone explain what’s going on here, please!

Also, things look more or less OK when I set use_Ledoux = .false. — but the Brunt is a bit noisy in the mu-gradient zone. What’s considered the best approach to smoothing this noise?
