Since this is not the first time that someone has asked, I decided to see
if I could install MESA under Cygwin (which provides a Unix-like command
line environment to a Windows user). I installed the latest DLL from their
website <http://www.cygwin.com/> (the 64-bit version of 1.7.27). On the
select packages step, I made sure that the MINGW versions of the following
were selected, as per the requirements of the MESA
SDK<http://www.astro.wisc.edu/~townsend/static.php?ref=mesasdk>
:
zlib0
zlib-devel
perl
make
binutils
tcsh
(Note that mingw only has up to gcc 4.8.2)
But when I attempted to install, it crashed with
*gfortran -fopenmp -o ../tester test_const.o -L../../make
-lconst/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-cygwin/4.8.2/libgfortran.dll.a: error adding
symbols: Malformed archive*
