The successful appointee will conduct research as a member of the
School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University
in collaboration with Professor Frank Timmes.

Experience using the Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics
(MESA) software is required. Experience in theoretical or numerical
modelling in any of the following topics, broadly interpeted, is also
required: nuclear astrophysics, formation and evolution of AGB and
massive stars, supernovae or novae or other transients, stellar
rotation and magnetic fields.

This 3 year position supported by two awards. The first is the
Theoretical & Computational Astrophysics Network (TCAN) award "The
SPIDER Network: Supernova Progenitor, Internal Dynamics & Evolution
Research". Initially most of the research will be focused on angular
momentum transport at the core-envelope boundary of massive main
sequence stars, convection and wave transport in the envelopes of
massive evolved stars, tests of angular momentum transport mechanisms
through red giant asteroseismology, and the effects of rotation and
magnetism on inwardly propagating carbon burning flames. The second is
the Software Infrastructure for Sustained Innovation (SI2) award to
to support the MESA software project and user community. Initially
most of the research will be focused on non-adiabatic oscillations,
operator splitting, automated test suite, and user documentation.

The successful appointee will have opportunities to engage in 
independent research. The appointment could begin as early as May 2014.
