Hi Bill,
Yes, I just ran mesa v5596 on a machine, starmaker.pa.msu.edu (Mac OS 10.8), remotely from my laptop (running Mac OS 10.9). There was a bit of a lag (a few seconds) for all 5 pgplot windows to appear with my test case, but otherwise it ran without incident.
I believe you still have an account on starmaker if you want to make a test.
