What is the value of $MESA_DIR?  (You can do "echo $MESA_DIR" to find
out.)  That error indicates that whatever directory you're in does not
contain an executable file named "install", which would not be the case
if you have a proper checkout of MESA and are in the MESA root
directory.

It sounds like you're probably not familiar with unix-like OSes, so why
don't we take this off-list.  That is when you reply, just email me and
don't cc mesa-users.
