Dear MESA users,
I started to use MESA particularly for it's module binary_rlo so I can find how the system behaves when various masses of donor and acceptor are used.
In inlist_rlo I changed only the mass of the donor from default (1 M_Sun) to 1.3 M_Sun and this is the error I found:
1st model retry: new log10 dt/secyer 4.2151416192329076D+00
stopping because of convergence problems -- too many retries
terminated evolution because nonzero_ierr
At line 265 of file rlo_binary_routines.inc
Fortran runtime error: Index '0' of dimension 1 of array 'result_reason_str' below lower bound of 1
Could you help me with figuring out what mistake I made or what else should I have changed or not touch?
Within this topic I've got three more question:
1) is there any specification of binary parameters (interaction between stars, like magnetic barking, gravitational radiation) I could possibly change, like there is star_job.defaults for single star?
2) do I have to change the initial mass in the inlist1 and inlist2 files describing donor and acceptor? Or maybe changing the mass only in the file inlist_rlo will do the work?
3) is there any upper limit of mass ratio (donor mass/acceptor mass) that allows the binary system to experience the mass transfer? Above that limit the theory provides common envelope episode.
Thanks in advance,
Paulina
