Hello All,

We've created a Mathematica-based (graphical and dynamical) interface, called MESAFace, for analyzing data from a MESA run (see screenshots img1<http://www.mgiannotti.com/MESAFace1.jpg>, img2<http://www.mgiannotti.com/MESAFace2.jpg>, img3<http://www.mgiannotti.com/MESAFace3.jpg>). We just posted it on the forum/tools page http://mesastar.org/tools-utilities/mathematica/mesaface. Please, visit also http://www.mgiannotti.com/mesaface.php for more information (thanks to Jason<linkedin.com/pub/jason-hubble/11/166/429> for some web php tips).

It started as a project for our personal use but then it has proven very useful for quickly and easily analyzing the stars (we have had undergrad students using it!). While the quality of the plots is not great (we will be working on improving it), we think that it is a very useful instrument to navigate the immense ocean of the MESA results ;-).

Some details:
-- We are writing some notes which describe the interface in more details and may help customize it for the best use. For now, the Mathematica notebook has some basic instructions and more can be found at http://www.mgiannotti.com/mesaface.php. From there you can also find a zipped sample of a MESA run (a 5.5M star, 50 Mb) to download, in case you don't have any MESA result at hand.
--MESAFace was designed to be intuitive and dynamical (users can edit as seen fit). Practically, no instructions required for immediate, basic use.
--The interface analyzes both star.log and all the profiles (the various log.data).
--We are excited that undergraduates (and possibly even high schools) can use this for demonstrations/teaching. However, it is also great for easy/in-depth analysis of stars by seasoned researchers.
--We will maintain and update this interface.

If you have any feedback, questions, comments, ideas for improvement, suggestions, recommendations... please let us know (through the mesa mailing list).

Hope you all like it. Looking forward to hearing your comments.

Maurizio, Michael and Aaron.
