[mesa-users] Fundamental Modes from ADIPLS/MESA

Hi Gongjie,
You can do this without those files (I do all the time!), but you need to set the ADIPLS inlist variables correctly.
Take a look at the instructions in the files in mesa/adipls/adipack.c/notes/ for how to set the variables correctly to run ADIPLS without input SSM and AGSM files (I'm pretty sure it at least needs a filename to output to). These are output files produced by ADIPLS, but which are sometimes used as inputs depending on how you are asking ADIPLS to calculate your modes (e.g., are you supplying previous similar modes or asking to search a given range of frequencies). What you want is likely to search around the stellar dynamical frequency.
Good luck!

You will need to use the ADIPLS routines to convert the FGONG to and AMDL model file, write an inlist file (like that in mesa/adipls/test/adipls.c.in), and then run adipls.n.d with the inlist file as input, from the command line. This will compute the modes based on the input variables you specify in your adipls inlist. The meanings of the different variables in the inlist are pretty well described in mesa/adipls/adipack.c/notes/operation.pdf.

I see that there is an astero pre-made model in the test suite, but again, I'm not quite sure what's going on there.
